We are all on a journey. We are wanderers looking for our home. The only problem is some have forgotten about home.
In the book of Revelation, Jesus sends seven letters to seven churches. In His letters He gives them a wake-up call, urging them to remember.
The instructions He gives in these letters are vital for every believer to understand, especially as we enter the last days.
As you read this book you will discover the heart of the Father who is calling His children to get ready for home. Your faith will be strengthened and you will learn how to live like you are on a journey home.

I liked this book very much, and intend to read it again. It is full of beautiful, inspiring illustrations of Who our God is -- His lovely nature and how our relationship with Him is supposed to work. It is based upon the letters from Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3.

The drawbacks are that it needs a lot of editing, and I hope the author will have that done in the future. It is poorly punctuated and has many missed words and typos. The e-book formatting was not done well, either. There are a couple of places where the author should have cited his sources or done better research. One of those is a story about the soldiers who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Because it didn't sound believable, I researched and found it to be an urban legend, not fact.

In spite of the drawbacks, I recommend the book. Aside from the editing problems, I would have given it 5 stars.

Letters from Home edition by David Snyder Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

A must read - one of the best books I've read. Would make an excellent gift for anyone young or old!
Gotta love Linda.
The writing was very easy to understand. It brought a closer look into the the letters that are for us the church of Christ.
if the stress of your life is overwhelming you and you need a renewed sense of God's loving presence and a powerful boost of faith renewal, this book is the answer. it's easy to read and riveting.
The letters from Jesus to the churches in the Bible book of Revelation applied to this day and age. Thought provoking.
I thought this book had a lot of good basic Christian values in it. The last chapter was a good reminder to ALWAYS rely on Him, especially in our deepest need or pain. He will win the battle(s) for us.
"The story of Abraham begins with God speaking to him and Abraham actually listens. I wonder how many other men God was trying to speak to at that time; maybe hundreds, maybe thousands, maybe all of them. How many listened? God spoke to Moses through the burning bush and Moses listened. Both men built patterns of listening to the voice of God in their lives. Has God been trying to speak to you?"
With this great challenge, David Synder introduces us to his book, "Letters From Home." This is a very inspirational and uplifting book. His goal was to have the true Christian believers be encouraged by the letters to the various churches in Revelation. The book is not difficult to read nor very long; and after each chapter Synder offers a few questions to review.
However, I did find some inconsistences that did not agree with the Bible. This is what the book states, "John finds himself on a penal colony in the middle of the Aegean Sea. That sounds bad enough but he was only put there after being boiled in oil didn't kill him, all because of an encounter with Jesus...The few other prisoners who were there probably wanted nothing to do with him." Where he gets this information we will never know since he does not quote the source. He continues, "So here he is all by himself and he decides to have church. It's Sunday and so he does what he always does, he gets himself cleaned up and goes to church, but today he seems to be by himself."
This is what Revelation states, "I, John your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet..."
John was a Jew and he would not be attending a Gentile church, nor celebrating the Sabbath on Sunday. He was sent to the island of Patmos for punishment not entertainment. Regardless, this story appears to be embellished for drama.
Here is another inconsistency from the book "For 100 years Noah was building an ark, preparing for the day the flood would come. During those 100 years we're told he preached righteousness in the wicked world he lived in. The people laughed and mocked him, but then the rain started." He takes this account from Matthew 24.
Matthew 2437-39, "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away." How could Noah be preaching all those years and yet the people know nothing about the flood, according to Matthew 2439?
Finally, the book tells the story of Elijah and the ravens that feed him from I Kings 171-6. He states, "Now bread by itself isn't much of a meal. That's what they fed prisoners years ago, bread and water...This was the Old Testament version of the Olive Garden. I guarantee those birds weren't bringing road kill. God was providing them with prime rib and New York strip steak. Elijah had probably never eaten so good in all his life."
Here is what is written in the Holy Bible "Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah 'Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.'"
"So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook." I do not see prime rib, New York strip steak or Olive Garden here. I think he has a problem with inconsistencies and the Word of God.
It discredits and disqualifies someone who is teaching and preaching from the scriptures; and yet can't quote it accurately or correctly. Also, the book had grammatical errors with words missing from sentences or misspelled words. It really should have been five stars but I could only give it three. It needs improvement.
I liked this book very much, and intend to read it again. It is full of beautiful, inspiring illustrations of Who our God is -- His lovely nature and how our relationship with Him is supposed to work. It is based upon the letters from Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3.
